What is WWOOF? WWOOF is a world wide network - It started in the United Kingdom in 1971 and has since become an international movement that is helping people share knowledge and experience in more ecologically sustainable ways of living. WWOOF is an exchange - In return for volunteer help, WWOOF hosts offer food, accommodation and opportunities to learn about organic farming practices and sustainable eco-friendly lifestyles. WWOOF organisations link people who want to volunteer on organic farms or smallholdings with those who are looking for volunteer help. How does it work? WWOOF is a world wide network of organisations that helps volunteers to live and learn on organic properties, eco-friendly farmlets and in environmentally sustainable rural settings. WWOOF brings together Hosts and Volunteers ("WWOOFers") helping each other to make a healthier world. WWOOF also promotes cultural understanding of the many diverse peoples and cultures around the world through the intercultural exchange that takes place while sharing in the daily life of others. |

WWOOFers (volunteers):
◊ Need to possess a genuine interest in learning about organic agricultural practices, rural living and/or ecologically sustainable lifestyle practices.
◊ Understand that they are there to help their hosts with daily tasks for an agreed number of hours - generally around 3 hours daily - for around 4 to 5 days per week ... the hours and timings are flexible and negotiable!
